I will never forget when my friend gave me a life altering challenge seven years ago: eat less Skittles and pop; eat more fruits, veggies and water. This was an absurd idea to me! Growing up with cystic fibrosis I was always told to eat a high fat, high calorie diet and basically anything and everything I wanted to. My mom usually cooked a hearty meal at home, but when it was time to fend for myself, I began to rely on bagel bites, macaroni and cheese, pizza, frozen dinners, and more junk food than one should ever consume in a day. It’s no wonder I was tired, plagued with headaches, and had no energy. My friend’s challenge ended up being a lifeline.
Over the next few years I found myself making improvements to my diet and lifestyle that led to more energy (I ran a 5K in 37 minutes), a stronger immune system, and the migraine headaches now cease to exist. I barely remember the life I used to live because I look and feel so much better now!
I will admit, living what I now know as the L.E.A.N. lifestyle took some getting used to. But I surrounded myself with like minded people who helped keep me accountable and on task. This group of people helped me take ACTION when I was tempted to quite. There’s no way you could’ve told me ten years ago that I would have the energy and the quality of life that I have now; I wouldn’t have believed you. But it was possible for me, and it’s possible for you.

On January 17th, 2012 I am going to gather a group of people together in a virtual classroom who are serious about taking control of their health in 2013. You can learn from the comfort of your own home, on your own time, PLUS receive health coaching, yummy recipes, and easy to apply tips.
Together, we’ll be embarking on the L.E.A.N. Start adventure developed by Dr. Bill Sears, one of America’s most renowned pediatricians. He is the father of eight children, ages 17 to 42 years, author of over 40 books on childcare and Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine.
The L.E.A.N. workshops are designed to educate and support parents, caregivers, children and expecting moms in the four pillars of health:
- Lifestyle- How we live
- Exercise - How we move
- Attitude - How we think
- Nutrition – How we eat
These four pillars of health work together to support and maintain the health and well-being for individuals of any age and in any stage of life.
L.E.A.N. workshops are not your typical wellness programs. You will laugh your way through class, learn simple, time and money saving solutions for improving your family’s health, and leave empowered to lead others, including yourself, toward better health.
